Dr. Joe Zahner manages the intellectual property estate of Saint Louis University and coordinates technology commercialization and company spin-out activity at Saint Louis University. He was an Assistant Professor of Biology from 1998 to 2001 and now an Adjunct Professor of Biology in Saint Louis University. Prior to returning to the University, Joe worked as a registered patent agent specializing in biotechnology patent preparation and prosecution at Thompson Coburn LLP. Dr. Zahner has been instrumental in the formation of SLUTEC™, a small pre-seed fund designed to jump-start SLU faculty, student and alumni start-up company activity.

Dr. Zahner completed his Postdoctoral studies in cell biology at Washington University in St. Louis, and Postdoctoral studies in molecular genetics at The University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. He got his Ph. D in Developmental Biology in The Johns Hopkins Unversity and B.S in Biology from Loyola College in Maryland.
