In September 2005, TEC welcomed its 6th client company--iMobile Access Technologies or iMAT. iMAT is a mobile communications company dedicated to serving the deaf and hard of hearing community (D/HH). iMAT has developed and will commercialize a new solution that will enable D/HH Americans to "see" radio for the first time. iMAT has invented a device and a delivery service that provides captioned radio content through a subscription-based service.

The solution expands radio and other media markets by enabling broadcasters to deliver their content, in captioned form, to a market which they have never served. In doing so, iMAT is creating multiple revenue streams through subscription and advertising, expanding radio's consumer base and creating a new entertainment medium. iMAT foresees a time when media companies will jostle for the attention of the D/HH by producing special content in captioned form.

Global Velocity was founded in 2000 to explore the possibility of harnessing computing power to determine the legitimacy of data flows at network aggregation points and to act on those flows in real time to protect against computer viruses and secure confidential data.

Founders Matt Kulig and David Reddick discovered exciting technology being developed at Washington University in St. Louis that would allow for the creation of reconfigurable hardware to accomplish their goal. Not long after, they created a partnership with the university's Applied Research Lab. They called their new technology an "Intelligent Gateway," which can be installed at aggregation points and within the carrier level throughout the world.

The initial impetus was to create a method of controlling illegal peer-to-peer transmissions of copyright-protected information such as music, motion pictures and pirated software. Copyright protection remains a potential application for the company, with data security and virus protection representing their first-to-market solutions. Use of the Intelligent Gateway within the U.S. intelligence community has provided the company's most significant revenue stream. Going forward, the installation of an Intelligent Gateway will allow a corporation, college or university, health-care facility or governmental agency to protect against Internet worms and viruses, and secure confidential data.

In September of 2005, Veteran Information Technology entrepreneur and business leader Greg Sullivan was named Chief Executive Officer.

Gary Seid started Heaton on October 1, 2003. Seid is MBE certified by the airport authority and in the process of getting MBE certification from the SLMBC. While small businesses are Heaton's target, procuring government contracts using MBE certification is also a goal. Future plans call for offering full service technology outsourcing by offering a wide range of skills, from Linux, to Microsoft, from basic networking to VoIP.

"By being part of the TEC, we can keep our overhead low by utilizing shared resources and subsidized rent," said Seid. "TEC allows us to have some of the resources that larger, more established companies would have, without forcing us to come up with the capital to finance it. In addition, TEC gives us mentoring and allows us to draw on the experience of experienced entrepreneurs in the technology field."

At Minute Guard, Sam McPheeters (CEO) and Matt Kretsinger (COO) have created the first proactive cellular management tool for eliminating cellular overage expenses. This advanced warning system allows users to alter calling habits, upgrade plans, and make other adjustments to keep their costs under control. "Sam and I are extremely excited to develop our company to the next stage," said Kretsinger. "We believe that the mentoring available at TEC will be a very critical tool to help us grow Minute Guard into a world-class service provider," he said.
